    Hi, Doug!

I like your well-researched and thoughtful approach to eating and living as cleanly as possible. On our blog, we promote cooking at home and using as many fresh, organic, and seasonal ingredients as possible — so it’s great to be able to reference your research to help our readers make informed choices about the products they ingest.

Plus who looks up and writes about the UC Davis Olive Center? That’s just cool.

I also thought you might be interested in Senate Bill S 510: http://www.naturalnews.com/030418_Food_Safety_Modernization_Act_seeds.html

    and:

    http://foodfreedom.wordpress.com/2009/06/13/seeds-how-to-criminalize-them/

It would criminalize seed-saving and regulate food that you grow in your own yard. Also, it would limit organic farmers’ abilities to collect and clean their own, non-GMO seeds after harvests for the next year’s crops. What do you think of that?

If you need recipe tips or food advice, we’re always game to collaborate. I’m also going to add your site to our BlogRoll.

    Best wishes,
    Anna

      Anna,

Thanks very much for your thoughts, and for adding me to your blogroll! I have not yet gotten around to having my own but will certainly keep you in mind and keep an eye on your blog; your cooking looks delicious!

I appreciate your raising the many issues entwined in S. 510. It is very much on-topic for Organaholic. Unfortunately, it lives with my blogroll in the aspirational wonderland of “someday.” I simply have not put in enough footwork on this one to blog intelligently about it. Fortunately it looks as though others have aptly taken up the mantle.

Please let me know if anything else comes along that you feel would merit a post; I love to get ideas from readers. (Hopefully they do not all involve reading a lengthy bill!) Meantime I will check out your latest post next time I endeavor to cook a meal—an enjoyable but rare pursuit for me.

      Best,
      Doug

    Hey Doug!

My name is Claire Schmidt. I am a student reporter from New York University, and I am writing an article on what it really means to go “organic” and whether or not it is as beneficial as advertisers make it out to be. I was hoping to speak with you sometime this weekend so that I could ask a few questions about your thoughts on this issue. Let me know if this is something you would be willing to do. I would really appreciate it! Hope to hear from you soon.

    Thanks again,
    Claire Schmidt

    Hi Doug,

I work for a company that is in the process of developing a new line of organic pancake and waffle mixes, and we would love your help! Because of your familiarity with organic food products, we would like to send you some free samples of our new pancake and waffle mixes, and hear what you have to say about them. If there is anything you think we need to improve upon, we would love to hear!

Again, we would be happy to send you free samples of our products so you could test them out. Could you provide me with a mailing address?
